When Calls the Heart is a classic prairie romance set in the early 1900’s. It tells the story of Elizabeth Thatcher, a cultured young woman from the big city, who leaves her home, family and comfort to pursue her passion to teach school in a hard-scrabble frontier coal-mining town. Along the way, she finds adventure, hardship and love.
Based on the series of of books by New York Times best-selling author Janette Oke, When Calls the Heart is Hallmark’s longest-running series, and consistently one of the top-rated scripted series across all of cable. Starring Erin Krakow, Pascale Hutton, Jack Wagner, Kavan Smith, Chris McNally and Kevin McGarry, the frontier drama is executive produced by Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird, and Michael Landon, Jr., son of legendary Little House on the Prairie actor Michael Landon.

When Calls the Heart is showing no signs of slowing down. In a press release, it was revealed that the Hallmark Channel soap wrapped its tenth season with standout ratings.
When Calls the Heart was the most-watched entertainment cable program each Sunday among women 18 and over. The recent Season 10 finale was the most-watched entertainment cable program on Sunday, Oct. 22, as well as the most-watched entertainment cable program of the week in several major demographics.
Season 10 snagged the eyeballs of 7.3 million unduplicated viewers. When Calls the Heart was the most-watched entertainment cable program for 12 consecutive Sundays among women 18 and over. It helped boost Hallmark to the status of most-watched entertainment cable network in Total Day and Prime on the weekends in Households, Women and Persons 18+, and Total Viewers.

Season 8
Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart kicked off its eighth season Sunday night with a bang. The Season 8 premiere averaged three million Total Viewers and 397,000 Women 25-54 in Live+3, making it the most-watched original scripted series on ad-supported cable in the year-to-date among Total Viewers and Women 18+, accoording to Nielsen.
The Season 8 premiere episode also was the No. 1 most-watched entertainment cable program of the week among Women 18+, according to Nielsen. The episode drew a .19 rating in the 18-49 demo, and 2.1 million viewers.
